getting started

Sitecake is a static CMS — but it’s also a drag-and-drop one. The goal is simple: drag any kind of content onto the page and have it drop into place instantly. Let’s start with the basics.

Adding new content

New content is added by dragging toolbar icons onto the page. Pick up an icon from the floating toolbar, drag it over the page, and drop it where you want it to live.

info

Don’t click the toolbar icons — drag and drop them onto the page.

Existing content can be clicked and moved the same way. As you drag, a blue dotted placeholder appears wherever it’s possible to drop the element.

Selecting several items

Several content items can be selected at once. Click beside your content, drag a lasso selection across the elements you want, then move them together — or drop them straight into the trash can.

Where to go next

That’s the core of editing. From here, dig into the specifics of each content type — starting with text and images.
